Fourth of July Celebration, Historic Downtown Parkville

   
 

Wednesday, July 1 though Saturday, July 4, 2009

The night sky over Downtown Historic Parkville will be a blaze of color as the 2009 Fourth of July Celebration hits its peak.

Parkville, Missouri – Over 10,000 people from around the region will enjoy shopping, dining, carnival rides and a spectacular fireworks display over the Missouri River.  Families can pick their favorite spots on Saturday to watch the fireworks display from their lawn chairs.

This year’s parade theme is “Parkville Our Hometown”.  The parade will be Saturday, July 4 and will begin at 63rd Street and Highway 9 at 10:00 am. This year Friends of Parkville Animal Shelter (FOPAS) will be leading the parade as the Grand Marshal.  The Admiral of Parkville, Bill Grigsby will announce the parade with hundreds of people in the procession.  Don’t forget to watch for the Falcon Skydiving Jump at 10:15 am. 

Main Street Parkville Association is looking for parade entries.  If you or your business, church, civic or community group are interested in participating the parade this year compete the parade application below or call 816-505-2227.  No fee to participate in the parade.  Parade applications are due by Wednesday, July 1.   Monetary prizes will be awarded to the “Best Themed” entries.  All participants are asked to decorate their entries accordingly.  Parade line up will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday at 63rd Street and Bell Road.

1st Place - $100.00                            
2nd Place - $75.00
3rd Place - $50.00

Midland Empire Shows will host the carnival from July 1 through July 4. The carnival will host their nightly wristband special ($20) each evening except Saturday.  

Saturday, July 4 the shuttle buses will begin route starting at 6:00 pm from South Platte Community Center, Park University and Park Hill South High School.   

The Fourth of July Celebration with its parade, unique carnival and outstanding fireworks display promises to once again be one of Downtown Historic Parkville's great traditions.

Beer will be available at the festival; but cannot be taken out of the festival area.  Outside alcohol will not be allowed into the festival area.
