Wind up the summer with live blues and jazz in Historic Downtown Parkville, Missouri.

The Main Street Parkville Association proudly announces the 41st Annual Parkville Days Riverfest, Friday, August 21 – Sunday, August 23 by the banks of the Missouri River in English Landing Park, Downtown Historic Parkville, Missouri.

Nationally and internationally acclaimed jazz and blues bands perform each year at this festival. This year's festival features Josh Vowel & the Rumble, Max Groove and Hal Wakes on Friday, August 21 and Wanda Watson Band, Everett Devan W/ Tom “Trashmouth” Baker, Scottyboy Daniels Blues Band and Levee Town on Saturday, August 22.

Over 100 arts, crafts, food and commercial booths will encircle the festival area.  Other attractions include the "Children’s Adventure Land" featuring games, petting zoo, pony rides, family activities, and other children's activities.  Plus, the Evans Midland Empire Carnival will supply spinning thrills for the whole family.  Wristband special will be offered Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22. 

The parade is Saturday, August 22, 10:00 am in Historic Downtown Parkville – Main Street.  Bill and Fran Grigsby will lead the way as the parade Grand Marshals.  This year’s theme is “Rolling though Parkville” and monetary prizes will be awarded to the top three “Best Themed” and one “Best Parkville Neighborhood” entries.  Parade entries are being accepted.  Click here for a parade application

Parkville Days Riverfest will hold its Annual Little Miss and Mister Parkville Pageant in the shade of the magnificent cottonwoods in the heart of English Landing Park. The contest starts at 1:00 pm on Saturday, August 22.  To learn more about the Pageant please contact Maxine McKeon - Pageant Chairperson at 816-741-1603.

Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a relaxing day at English Landing Park.  Alcohol will be available at the festival; but cannot be taken out of the park. Outside alcohol will not be allowed into the park.

Erik Karlsson

A transplant from Houston to the heartland of Kansas City, Erik Karlsson quickly found his way into the local music scene with his positive outlook and dynamic stage presence. His folk-rock songs feature stories about people with honest issues dealing with things in honest ways - some are happy, some at the end of their rope - but all are treated with respect at the hands of this engaging musician.  Karlsson’s newest CD, Trying To Fill The Great Big Empty, was released in April.

Jim Abel

Jim Abel writes and performs a unique style of folk and alternative music, including humorous and serious songs about love, friends, and family.  Widely acclaimed for his compelling music and intelligent lyrics, Abel plays regularly in venues across the Kansas City area and surrounding communities and has received significant coverage in print and broadcast media.  Abel released his latest CD, Thunder, in May 2008.

Rick Malsick

Rick Malsick has more than 25 years of experience as a musician, songwriter, playwright, and actor. He is an accomplished finger-style guitarist, playing mostly ragtime, jazz, and blues, with some sweet and slow tunes thrown in for good measure. Malsick plays regularly in the Kansas City area at a variety of venues, including bars, coffeehouses, and restaurants. His most recent CD, Athena, was released in July.
