Note: There will be partial road closures on 9 Hwy and Main Street from 9:45 am to 11 am due to the parade.

About the Festival

One of downtown Parkville’s biggest festivals, the annual Parkville Days offers great family entertainment and fun in historic downtown Parkville.

This year’s event offers something for everyone! Browse and enjoy dozens of art, craft, and food and specialty booths. The Evans Midland Empire Carnival is here all weekend starting Thursday at 6:00 pm. There will be great jazz and blues on the main stage Friday night and Saturday starting at 4:00 pm. The downtown shops and restaurants will host their end-of-summer sales and specials Friday and Saturday.

Wild West Show

The Blacksnake Hills Gang (Wild West Show) will perform reenactments both Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24 at Parkville Days. The 150 Anniversary of the Civil War will continue from last year when we performed events that lead up to the Raid on Lawrence by Quantrill’s Raiders.

Wings Over Water

Missouri’s birds up close and in flight!

Missouri American Water and World Bird Sanctuary are bringing Wings Over Water watershed education program Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24 at Parkville Days. You’ll see eagles, owls and hawks up close and in flight. They illustrate the importance of protecting our birds, their habitat and Missouri’s water resources. Enjoy the birds and a comprehensive and interactive exhibition that examines one of the most urgent scientific and social issues of the 21st century.

Special Event

Please come see two of Parkville’s treasures, award winning artist and musician, Terry Whetstone and award winning artist Cathy Kline. Terry Whetstone, recent recipient of the 2014 Emerging Artist of the Year by Indie Music Channel Awards World Class Music Awards and 2013 Winner of Best Easy Listening Recording, will be performing his beautiful flute music while Cathy Kline of Cathy Kline Art Gallery will be painting Terry as he performs on the McKeon Stage at 4:15 on Sunday. This is a huge event for Parkville!

Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to enjoy a relaxing day at English Landing Park. Everyone is encouraged to use the free parking at Park University and English Landing Centre. Alcohol will be available at the festival; but cannot be taken out of the festival grounds. Outside alcohol will not be allowed into the festival.

Parade

This year’s parade starting at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 23, promises to be the “best ever.” Leading the parade is the 4th annual 5K Run by the River, a fundraiser for Christmas on the River and Grand Marshal, Mark Owen, Platte County Sheriff. Click here to learn more about Sheriff Mark Owen.

Harvesters Collection Site

HarvestersMain Street Parkville Association is partnering with Harvesters – The Community Food Network to collect non-perishable food items to support the Food Bank’s program to feed the hungry in our community. Bring your canned good donations to this event. Collection barrels will be available. Help Main Street Parkville and Harvesters’ help our friends and neighbors who are so dependent upon these donations to feed their children.
